The final stage is also recognized as being the stage of disinfection. This is the last step required to complete the water treatment process. The pathogens that were not removed in the first and second stage are killed by adding disinfectants to the water. Chlorine, Chloramines, Ozone, Chlorine dioxide, and UV radiation can all be added in this final stage of water treatment. The many types of disinfectants that can be used here are not limited to the ones listed above. It will just have to depend on what needs to be taken out of the water.
