Nintendo Wii Review

The release of the nintendo Wii last year has revolutionised the game console market more than another other product. We all thought that the original Sony Playstation was the best thing since sliced bread. And then came Microsofts xbox, which gave Playstation a real run for its money. Sony thought back with the Playstation 2 and 3. Now nintendo has take its game console to dizzy new heights that Sony and microsoft have not been able to match.

So what is all the fuss about? Some might say it is the very competitive price point. At under 200 in the UK, and $250 in the USA, it is very reasonably priced compared with the Playstation 3 or xbox 360. That has no doubt made gaming more affordable for the masses.

However, the real selling point is the amazing, futuristic wireless remote, known as the Wii remote. The Wii remote can detect three dimensional motion and rotation and enables the user to interact with the games like never before. You can punch, swing, punch, jump with the games. It is the kind of thing we have seen on science fiction movies and never actually believed were possible. You actually gain a valuable workout while playing a video game! The Wii remote has made game consoles exciting for everyone, even people that previously had no interest in game consoles.

The highly completive price point combined with the next generation wireless remote has lead to incredible demand for the nintendo Wii. It has outsold the Playstation 3 and xbox 360. It has been so popular that stocks have been sold out. Some believe that nintendo embarked on a deliberate ploy to hold stock back to create an artificial demand. Whether that is true or not will be as issue of debate. But that is no debate about the quality of this game console. It proves a richer, more interactive, energetic and interesting experience that any other game consoles before it.

nintendo has moved the game console to the next level. Now it is time for Sony and microsoft to play catch up.

WiMAX vs 3G in Australia - Who Will Reign Supreme?

The past 18 months have seen a significant development in the use of mobile and wireless as an Internet connection technology in Australia. This space was previously dominated by wireless broadband providers, such as Unwired Australia and personal broadband Australia offering pre-WiMAX solutions. However, the competitive dynamics changed dramatically in 2006 after 3G services became available from all four mobile operators, which was further accelerated by the introduction of HSDPA or 3.5G services towards the end of 2006 and at the beginning of 2007.

For the first time in 2006, the number of mobile broadband users - those using cellular-based 3G/3.5G for Internet connection - surpassed wireless broadband (pre-WiMAX) users and given current market conditions, Telsyte expects mobile broadband users to outnumber their wireless broadband counterparts by two to one in five years time.

Combined, mobile and wireless broadband users will make up 9% of all broadband users in Australia in 2007. By 2011, more than one in five Australian broadband users will rely on either cellular-based or WiMAX-based technology for their high-speed Internet connection.

Delays in the commercialisation of standards-based WiMAX offerings are slowing down the growth of WiMAX in Australia. That has also been exacerbated by the aggressive 3G/3.5G push by the established mobile operators, with much deeper pockets.

Telsyte believes that WiMAX still has a good chance but its window of opportunity is closing. Although wireless broadband in Australia has continued to register impressive growth, expanding 68% in 2006, the user base remains small and coverage limited to major capital cities. start-up wireless broadband service providers, such as Unwired Australia, BigAir and personal broadband Australia, which operate proprietary networks, continue to face a challenging task of having to expand their coverage and recruit customers quickly while maintaining profitability. Many of them are also faced with the challenge of raising capital at the same time.

Some good news is afoot as the long-awaited standards-based WiMAX is expected to debut in the first half of 2008, which should boost market interest in wireless broadband. Standardisation should also translate into lower capex and opex for operators and cheaper CPEs for customers.

With the introduction of WiMAX delayed for almost two years and the rapid HSDPA progress made by mobile operators, WiMAXs battle against cellular-based 3/3.5G to become the wireless broadband technology of choice is becoming more difficult. Telsyte believes WiMAX has an 18-month window of opportunity until the end of 2008 to prove itself as a viable business or risk going down the path of Australias wifi hotspots, which have essentially become free services in selected locations like airport and hotel lounges or are being made free by various local and state governments.

Wire EDM Machines: An Overview

While there are many brands and models of wire EDM machines available today, the three most prominent manufacturers are Elox, Japax, and Mitsubishi.

While each of these companies manufacture similar products, there will always be some varying features such as the User-interface with the CNC controller, the numbers of wires, be it a 4-axis or 5-axis Wire EDM machine, type of electrical current (AC vs. DC), and the gauges of wires that can be used. Another very big difference will be the size of the tank in which the manufacturing is accomplished.

Some examples of specifications for one model from each of these companies are:

Elox Fanuc Model M - (the Fanuc indicating the type of CNC controller that is a component of the Elox wire EDM) has an X-axis path of 20, a Y-axis path of 14, and a Z-axis path of 10

Japax wire EDM Model LDM-S - has a Y-axis path 13.8 and capable of machining a work piece with the measurements of 15.7 x 19.7 x 5.9 and a table that moves 7.9 x 13.8

Mitsubishi wire EDM Model DWC 110 H-1 - has an X-axis of 12, a Y-axis of 18, and a Z-axis of 10

Each of these models only represents one of many different models offered by their respective manufacturer. Variations will be observed from model to model with some differences including the distance that each axis wire can travel, the size of product that can be manufactured and the CNC controller.

When selecting a wire EDM machine, one must take into consideration the product that will be manufactured, the degrees of tolerance and variances that are allowed, how detailed the cut will be, and not least importantly, the funds available for purchasing the wire EDM.

While Elox, Japax and Mitsubishi are three prominent manufacturers of wire EDM machines, remember that there are also other manufactures of wire EDM machines.

Minnesota Golf Courses - Territory Golf Club in St Cloud

What you will notice when you arrive at Territory golf club and make your way to the clubhouse is a rolling prairie landscape. What you will also notice is wetlands and streams running through the property. What you won't notice is an abundance of trees. This is what you see about the property from the parking lot. Because looks can be deceiving, what you will later discover is the tale of two golf courses. All of the hole on the front nine, as well as, holes 10 and 18 are situated on rolling prairie with a compliment of native grasses in the rough and other places that you are not supposed to hit your golf ball. holes 11 through 17 are cut out of an oak forest that also features wetlands and streams along with some significant elevation changes.

Territory golf club plays to a par of 72 and measures 6,921 yards from the back tee markers. The course rating, from the back tees, is 72.9 and has a slope index of 125. There are four sets of tee markers, which means there is an appropriate yardage for golfers of all skills.

The management team consisting of Brock Swanson, head golf professional, Dan Stang, golf course superintendent and Dan Dols, general manager make sure that the players experience is outstanding. The course condition and the pace of play make Territory golf club a golf course that you will want to place on your list of places to play in central Minnesota. My playing partner and I played our round on a weekend morning and completed our play in just less than four hours. There were groups in front of and behind us and the pace of play flowed nicely.

The greens at Territory golf club are quite large, averaging nearly 7,000 square feet each and have significant undulation. These two factors make club selection as you approach the green critical. Just being on the green in regulation does not guarantee that you will have two putts for a par. My playing partner for the round described the greens a looking like "big potato chips" referring the random shapes as well as the wavy appearance as you walk onto the putting surface.

Another challenge at Territory golf Club is the sand traps. The traps can generally be described as large, deep and having steep faces on them. Getting out of the traps successfully should be your first concern, getting close to the pin should be of secondary importance.

The back nine plays longer than the front nine with number 10 and number 18 being the two longest holes on the golf course. The par-3 holes are longer-range holes with the shortest playing at 170 yards and the longest playing at 245 yards.

If you are looking for a challenging golf course to play in central Minnesota I would certainly check out Territory golf Club in St. Cloud. You can call for a tee a time at 320-258-4653 or visit their website at http://www.territorygc.com for more details.
